About Jason Rae

Jason Rae (he/him) has dedicated his career to serving others and strengthening the Democratic Party through transparency, collaboration, and innovative leadership.

Since being elected DNC Secretary in 2017, Jason has worked to ensure members are supported, engaged, and equipped with the resources they need to succeed. Jason believes that strong, engaged members are the foundation of a successful Democratic Party, and he works tirelessly to ensure their voices are heard.

A lifelong Democrat, Jason has experience working at every level of the Party—from volunteering in his local county as a teenager, to helping craft Wisconsin’s Delegate Selection Plans and chairing the State’s Platform Committee, to serving on the DNC’s Executive and Rules & Bylaws Committees. Jason has served as a DNC member since he was first elected in 2004 at the age of 17. He was one of the founders and a long-time Chair of the DNC Youth Council, where he worked to engage young people in the Party. Jason also previously served as acting Chair of the DNC LGBTQ Caucus.

Beyond his work with the DNC, Jason is the founder and President & CEO of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, an award-winning organization supporting more than 750 LGBTQ-owned and allied businesses. Under his leadership, the Chamber has grown into a nationally recognized organization. He also serves as a partner at a public affairs firm specializing in nonprofit management, crisis communications, and political campaigns. He has been an active member of his community by serving on multiple civic and nonprofit boards and committees.

Jason and his husband, Glendale Alderman Phillip Bailey.

Originally from rural Rice Lake, Wisconsin, Jason now lives in Glendale with his husband, Phillip Bailey, who is an elected Alderman, and their dog, George Washington.

Jason holds an Honors Bachelors of Arts degree from Marquette University in history and political science as well as a  Master of Business Administration degree from Drexel University.

When he’s not working to get Democrats elected, Jason enjoys curling and (very unrealistically) dreams of one day being an Olympic competitor in the sport.
